About the artist

I was born in Grossenhain, a small town near Dresden in Eastern Germany. After leaving school, I studied optics in Frankfurt/Main and Cologne where I received a masters degree as an optician. In 1991 I moved to Madeira. Inspired by the islands beauty I started to paint with oil colours. My works were soon noticed and in 1996 the Goverment of the Region of Madeira offered me the opportunity for my first solo exhibition. I have been exhibiting successfully in Madeira since.

In 2007 I left Madeira to live in England. I still paint marine motivs for commissions but I have also started to experiment with mixed media.

In 2011 I have launched a new website featuring my latest works. I am recently experimenting with phosphorescent paint. Have a look at www.glowart.co.uk
